BET Studios Red Carpet Event
“The Stars Fell on Alabama” was such a beautiful Red Carpet event at BET Studios in my hometown, Washington, D.C. Congresswoman Terri Sewell (the first African American woman to serve in the Alabama Congressional delegation) was the host for the night and the venue was filled with noteworthy individuals; Monica, Traci Braxton, Wale, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Anthony Anderson, MC Lyte, Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Congressman John Lewis, and Congresswoman Donna Edwards, just to name a few. There was a POPPIN’ performance by Ludacris that had EVERYONE one their feet with a great southern style buffet with cocktails. I guess you’re wondering how I was even at this event. Well, I was there to help out Barry Florence, publicist, and marketing and brand manager, to get more hands-on experience with event-planning in the entertainment industry. The opportunity was SUCH a blessing! I got to see behind the scenes of what it took to put together an upscale event AND have a good time from all the work that was put in earlier that day.
Take away: You should definitely strive to get involved in everything that interests you whether it’s paid or not because you will meet some inspirational people along the way that can actually put you in positions to live out your dream. Happy Monday! 🙂
