Viola Davis Makes History!

“Wow.”  That was all I could think as tears filled my eyes as I watched Viola Davis accept her Emmy, which made her THE FIRST African American woman to receive an Emmy for the best lead actress in a drama series! This is SUCH a breaking point for African American women, not only in the television/film industry, but in every field that seems as though there is a glass ceiling preventing us from getting to the top.  She has shown that persistence and hard work will allow for a breakthrough, and I applaud her.  Thank you, Ms. Davis, for inspiring me to strive for more than society will allow me to see for myself at this moment.  Listening to her speech was like a breath of fresh air.

What did you all think of her speech?
